ABOUT ABOUT

The students of Memphis Catholic Middle and High School have organized several presentations in accordance with National Mental Health Awareness Week. We are helping educate the students during one day of this weeklong program about the science of addiction and drugs of abuse. Our hopes are that by providing the students (over 200!) with more information about the dangers of prescription drugs and what the drugs do in a human body, they will be better equipped to make good decisions when unfortunate opportunities present themselves. We are bringing it back to the school’s week long theme by educating the students that many people are self-medicating themselves for mental disorders that have better options. We will also discuss briefly the better options for these issues – psychotherapy as well as antidepressant and anxiolytic drugs.
